Julian Sayin transferred to Ohio State from Alabama following Nick Saban’s decision to retire from coaching college football.
The five-star was one of the Crimson Tide’s highest-rated 2024 signees. He enrolled early and participated in Rose Bowl prep with the Crimson Tide, and it looked as if the next stage in his football career was solid in Tuscaloosa until Saban broke the news to the team.
Sayin entered the portal soon after and picked the Buckeyes because of a lot of factors.
“I definitely made the right decision coming up here,” Sayin said. “It came down to a lot of factors, but really I just wanted to be at a school with great tradition and great quarterback history and somewhere I can develop.”
Alabama picked up a commitment from a transfer in Austin Mack in the midst of Sayin leaving.
