Kalen DeBoer’s biggest concern coming out of scrimmage No. 1

The Alabama Crimson Tide took a step forward in seeing what they will actually look like under new head coach Kalen DeBoer in Saturday morning’s scrimmage at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

DeBoer met with media members inside Bryant-Denny Stadium to give feedback on what he saw out of his team as well as the teams biggest area of concern as the season draws near.

“Probably just staying healthy,” DeBoer said referring to his biggest concern. “You know, I feel good about where we’re at. This will be our biggest scrimmage, this will be the most plays we run. Next week we’ll have a scrimmage too but it won’t be quite as many, but it’ll be solid.”

The Alabama head coach went on to express the importance of his team staying healthy and compiling reps between veteran and young players throughout Saturday’s scrimmage.

“We need all the reps,” DeBoer said. “We have some veterans, there’s no doubt about it, but we certainly have a lot of young guys that need to continue to develop and they are important, if they are not in the two’s, or if they’re not in the one’s, they’re definitely in the two rotations so those reps are invaluable to those guys. Not just for them but also the trust that it takes for a whole unit.“

DeBoer also talked about the precautions players have taken so far, concerning their bodies and the habits they’ve built throughout the summer and camp.

“Guys are doing a great job with their bodies,” said DeBoer. “You know, any time they have a chance or extra time they’re in the training room. You know, just doing a good job before practice and after practice, doing what they should, being a Pro. And those championship habits, you can see them taking those and placing them, not just words on”.
