A few explosive plays from the Crimson Tide’s offense leaked out to social media, but the defense had good moments too.

Alabama’s coaching staff is having more trust for a true freshman in the secondary.
Zabien Brown, a former five-star, lined up at cornerback for the first team defense. The product of Mater Dei High School in California had no issues with the cast on his left hand as he was able to cover, tackle, and make plays. Brown has garnered attention from coaches and teammates throughout preseason camp as someone with high football character, discipline, and technique. Maurice Linguist, the Tide’s co-defensive coordinator/cornerbacks coach, said Brown is always in the right place.
The 6-foot, 196-pounder is in a position where he may start as one of two corners.
He worked opposite Domani Jackson in the open practice, rotating with DaShawn Jones. Brown’s willingness to grow and develop quickly has him with a chance to be impactful. If he puts on a show in Alabama’s second scrimmage, we may see him snatch a starting job.
