Why 4-Star LB Luke Metz staying committed to Alabama despite push from Oregon and others

Luke Metz is staying locked in with his commitment to Alabama for several different reasons.

The four-star linebacker out of Mill Creek High School in Georgia is continuing to see his rating and ranking rise on recruiting sites as he makes progress on the field and gains attention on the recruiting front. His offer list continues to grow with his latest offer coming from Oregon on Sunday. However, he remains committed to Alabama for several reasons, including the opportunity to play under the new Tide staff.

“It’s definitely the coaches,” Metz told Touchdown Alabama. “Coach Wommack and coach DeBoer, really keeping it locked in for me.”

The four-star is also excited to play in the Tide’s new defense.

“That defense is really made for linebackers to succeed,” Metz said. “The main focus is for us to make tackles, make good plays and it really sets the linebackers up for success. I’m gonna be the boundary linebacker to the linebacker, where D Law (Deontae Lawson) is playing this year. It will be really good to rush the passer but also drop back in coverage.”

The Ducks are not the only program continuing to recruit Metz. He continues to get interest from multiple SEC programs.

“Oregon, obviously, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Georgia,” said Metz when asked which teams are recruiting him hard.

The Crimson Tide’s 2025 class is currently thought of as one of the nation’s best. Metz remains ecstatic to play alongside them in the future.

“I’m pumped up,” Metz said. “Our class meshes really well. We get along really good. We got a big group chat, so we’re all good friends. It’ll be fun to play with each other.”
