Will Kalen DeBoer release an Alabama depth chart before first game?

Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer on the practice field Monday for the Crimson Tide's first session of spring ball.

Kalen DeBoer and Alabama football are turning their attention to Western Kentucky to kick off their 2024 football season.

Coaches have released depth charts before week one. Nick Saban did so in the past when he was the Tides head coach, but there were times, he did not.

DeBoer and his staff are putting together a depth chart over the next few days.

“So, putting our depth charts together here over the weekend, got obviously a pretty good idea in all phases where things are going with most of them,” DeBoer said Thursday during a press conference.

It is currently unclear if the depth chart will be available to the public.

“We’ll probably do something where it’s public at some point throughout the week,” said DeBoer. “A lot of it is also just kinda where it’s at with our opponent too. You kinda know especially after week 1. The week one game is probably the trickiest, but there’s so much information on us that’s out there already. I always kind of assume that that is known by our opponent. There will be some things. I think for the most part, 90 percent of it is kind of already known. Obviously, the special teams pieces are still out there. The other 10 percent or whatever you wanna call it, I would say that some of those things are still kind of up in the air and gonna be a work in progress and not solidified. If you got a depth chart, there might be or in different spots, and that’s hopefully understandable.”

Alabama will look to lock more in on Western Kentucky next week.
