He was a Nick Saban assistant at the University of Alabama, but Crimson Tide fans and former players were proud of Brent Key to open the college football season.
In his second season as head coach of Georgia Tech, Key led the Yellow Jackets over the weekend to its first victory over a top-10 program since 2015. Georgia Tech played No. 10-ranked Florida State in Ireland, and the Yellow Jackets earned a 24-21 win.

Key’s brand of toughness and physicality overwhelmed the Seminoles.
The Birmingham (Ala.) native was an offensive line coach for the Crimson Tide from 2016 to 2018. He assisted Saban to two Southeastern Conference Championships (2016, 2018) and a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017.
Some former Tide players rejoiced on social media after watching Key take down the ‘Noles.
