The national media highlighted different college football program with marquee wide receiver rooms in the offseason, but the University of Alabama is stacked with the talent at the position too.

Could this group potentially rival the 2019 room that had Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III, Jaylen Waddle, Slade Bolden, and John Metchie? Coach JaMarcus Shephard looks to accomplish it. Kalen DeBoer, the Crimson Tide’s head coach, was impressed with the receivers in fall camp. Several names made strides, including a few freshmen. Alabama now prepares itself to open its season Saturday versus Western Kentucky at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

DeBoer held his first game week presser on Monday and highlighted a young receiver that has given him the utmost confidence.

Tide nation has a star in Caleb Odom.

The 6-foot-5, 227-pounder was impressive during Rose Bowl prep for Michigan, in spring practice, and during fall camp.

A native Georgian, Odom arrived as a five-star in this recent freshman class.

“As a young guy coming in, he really turned our heads in the spring because I felt he was always lined up in the right spot, never seemed like he was overwhelmed, stood out and made plays, and he has continued to do that,” DeBoer said about Odom.

“He’s been steady.”

DeBoer stated that Odom has a desire to be great about himself, and he does not worry about him on the field.

Odom had a successful career at Carrollton High School, but he has an incredible opportunity to be the first 6’3″ or taller playmaker to become elite for the Crimson Tide at wide receiver since Julio Jones. He is prepared to turn heads at 6 p.m. this weekend on ESPN against the Hilltoppers.
