After playing his rookie season with the Las Vegas Raiders, former Alabama defensive lineman Byron Young will be searching for his next opportunity.

The franchise announced that Young was amongst the players to be waived on Wednesday alongside defensive back M.J. Devonshire. Las Vegas had also signed defensive tackle Jonah Laulu and safety Thomas Harper to take the roster spots.

Releasing Young came as a surprise to many after the Raiders selected him in the third round of last year’s draft.

During his rookie season, Young appeared in six games recording a total of four tackles while filling a role on special teams as well. He did appear in all three preseason games for the Raiders recording three total tackles and a pass breakup.
