It didn’t take long for former Alabama head coach Nick Saban to ruffle some feathers on TV.
During last weekend’s broadcast of ESPN’s College GameDay, the seven-time national champion shared his belief that Missouri had the easiest schedule and path to appear in the SEC Championship game this season.
“If you look at everybody’s schedule, Missouri has the easiest path to get in the (SEC) championship game,” Saban said. “Georgia has one of the toughest paths to get to the championship game … So, it’s not all equal in the way these schedules are kind of set up as hard as people tried to make them that way, which is difficult with all the change.”
During the SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday, Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz had the chance to share his thoughts on Saban’s comments using his famous term “rat poison” to emphasize his point.
“If you’re calling going into (Texas) A&M, Alabama, going to South Carolina, going to Mississippi State, playing home games versus Auburn and home games versus Oklahoma easy, I mean, sure,” Drinkwitz said. “But I don’t really get caught up in comparisons, and I sure don’t get caught up in the rat poison out there.”
The Tigers’ out-of-conference schedule isn’t exactly filled with any headliners, but the team is scheduled to play three top-25 opponents, two of which come on the road.
