Kalen DeBoer is confident in the quarterback room he has at his disposal in year one in Tuscaloosa.
The Tide’s quarterback room is led by one of their captains and starting quarterback Jalen Milroe. Ty Simpson, Dylan Lonergan and Austin Mack line up behind him. This is a group DeBoer feels Alabama is ‘fortunate’ to have.
“We’re very fortunate to have four quarterbacks that I feel can go out there and win football games for you,” DeBoer said. “You start getting nitpicky when you try to figure out which guy is a little better. There is a a pecking order to who takes what reps, especially as we start preparing for teams here, because there’s only so many so many reps to go around. But these guys all can sling it. They can throw the ball, and they have a great work ethic. These guys are great kids. They work very well together within the whole competitiveness in the room piece. You go sit in the quarterback room right now. It’s just a lot of fun, seeing them all just pour into it, but also be able to smile and laugh a little bit here and there, and then go back to work. Coach Sheridan does an amazing job of just pulling it all together.”
Milroe is 12-2 as a starting quarterback for Alabama. None of the other quarterbacks have started a game. Simpson currently has the most experience of the quarterbacks behind Milroe.
