Jalen Milroe led Alabama football to its first win of the season Saturday against Western Kentucky.
Here is what he had to say following the game:
On Growth of Alabama
“I’ll say there’s a lot of growth that we’ve made for our football team over the offseason, and they transitioned for game 1, definitely excited for what the future hold for our offense, but we left some plays on the field. We left some things that we can improve on. When you can put put up those points on offense that we did today it’s very exciting for our team. But we know that there is a lot of growth that needs to be made for us to be successful in the future.”
On Elijah Pritchett starting at Left Tackle after Kadyn Proctor did not play:
“I’m proud of him. I’m proud of him because of the work he’d been doing in the off season, the work he’d been doing this this week. He prepped really well this week. As he’s starting to see how he played tonight. I’m proud of him for stepping up, proud of him for continuing to try go one and o, try to get better. And, you know, that’s ultimately, you know, how you can improve and how you can get better when you have open
On Ryan Williams’ First Game
“Really good young player. People forget he’s 17 years old, and then he’s a guy that came in in the summer time. But I’m super excited for him because he’s a guy that put his head down to work, constantly trying to improve as much as possible as a player. He did a really good job for us tonight, but there’s always room for growth and room for our whole offense to keep climbing the ladder. But right now, I’m proud of him.”
On Being Confident In The Flow Of The Alabama Offense
“We got to credit the off season. One thing about the offseason, no shot clock. So, throughout the off season, you can separate into two pillars where strengths and weaknesses as a whole group. So, we gotta acknowledge we have a spring ball, have a summer, summer one, summer two, fall camp then transition for game 1. Practice is very important. Coach Sheridan mentioned this to our team. He asked someone on our squad. He was like, ‘hey, How many reps do you have today?’ He was like, try to count his fingers on how many reps he had. He said, ‘I’ll stop you right there. You had all of them, mental reps and a physical reps. I think that’s very important when it comes to being successful on offense.”
