Alabama offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor wasn’t able to take the field Saturday in Western Kentucky. While warming up pregame, Proctor appeared to have suffered an upper-body injury which led him to leave for the locker room and later return in street clothes.
After the game head coach Kalen DeBoer said that the team would continue to monitor the severity of the injury for the starting left tackle.
However, according to a report by 247Sports Proctor had suffered a shoulder injury but is not expected to be a long-term issue for the sophomore describing it as a “week-to-week” situation.
Filling in for Proctor was redshirt sophomore Elijah Pritchett who quickly had to adjust from taking all his reps at right tackle this fall as he is in a battle for a starting role with Wilkin Formby. After the game, DeBoer commended him for his ability to step up despite the lack of work on the left side.
“Pritchett, really as you said he has taken pretty much all his reps at the right tackle spot,” DeBoer said following the 63-0 win. “I think we really went back to what he did this spring, playing left tackle, and it was something I know gave me confidence and I’m sure it gave him. He and Booker took all those reps all spring long for 15 practices. And so I think they just really honed back in on that.
“I’ll watch the film obviously, there was a lot of good things that happened out there, and you don’t do that without great offensive line play. So excited about the way he responded all of a sudden in the moment and getting thrown into that position and really just being steady.”
DeBoer will likely share another opportunity during his media availability this week as Alabama begins preparation for USF this Saturday.
