Alabama football will be task with slowing down Byrum Brown this weekend whent they play host to USF.
The Crimson Tide’s defensive staff and players have expressed they were not satisfied with their performance against Western Kentucky Saturday despite holding the Hilltoppers to zero points.
Alabama’s defensive line coach Freddie Roach echoed this sentiment to media Wednesday after practice when he was asked how the Alabama defense is preparing to face another dual-threat passer in Brown.
“He’s a tremendous athlete,” Roach said. “Obviously he throws the ball really well and he can run the ball really well. He creates plays when things are broken down, and he’s got the ability to create something. And it’s a challenge for us, everyone on defense, not only just my group. And so, again, we’ve got to do our jobs, being where we’re supposed to be and play as 11. We can’t be individual contractors and that’s part of it because when you’re playing a guy like him (Brown) it takes a team to slow him down.”
How Alabama performs against Brown, who rush for 645 yards and threw for more than 3,000 yards last season, will be one of the things to watch.
