The University of Alabama started its first game of the Kalen DeBoer era with a victory over Western Kentucky.
Alabama’s offense scored 63 points and its defense pitched a shutout at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Jalen Milroe, a redshirt junior, recorded 200 passing yards, 79 rushing yards, and five total touchdowns. Justice Haynes, Jam Miller, and Daniel Hill each had a rushing touchdown, Ryan Williams had an impressive freshman debut with two touchdowns, and Kendrick Law had a touchdown reception. Coach DeBoer saw his offense total 600 yards and brought excitement to fans.

“A-plus,” Herbstreit said. “I think considering the pressure, I don’t care who the opponent was, I just thought the execution and some new faces like Ryan Williams emerge, I thought they looked great. I thought Jalen (Milroe) was fantastic.”
Alabama has another opportunity Saturday at a marquee performance on offense.
The Crimson Tide plays South Florida at 6 p.m. CT via ESPN.
