McCoy, a leader at wide receiver on the 2009 national title team, detailed his game plan for Alabama’s defense versus Wisconsin via The Coaches Corner with Mike McCoy for Touchdown Alabama Magazine. The founder of Maximum Performance Training in Birmingham (Ala.) wants to see the cornerbacks play and the Crimson Tide’s defensive front take away Wisconsin’s run game.

“I think we gotta load the box and let the corners play,” McCoy said. “Let them be one-on-one on the outside and really see are these boys worth the money. It is that simple. Load the box because we got ran up on. This is some big boy football this week and you know them big, cornbread fed boys are ready to eat this weekend. They got some hogs up there. So they are going to try to push. They don’t have the skill guys up there that we have, but they got some hogs and they are going to try to run the ball.”

McCoy wants to see if Alabama will stack the box or not against the Badgers. The Tide gave up 206 yards rushing to South Florida, including 108 yards to quarterback Byrum Brown. McCoy wants to see improvement from the Tide’s run defense.
