Former Alabama defensive back Roman Harper joined “The NextRound” show Thursday to discuss the state of the Crimson Tide after the first two games of their 2024 campaign.
The former first-team SEC defender and NFL Super Bowl champion didn’t hold back when naming the position group he’s most concerned about at the moment.
“I would be concerned for the offensive line”, Harper said. “It’s kind of a patchwork group right now, and they’re trying to figure it out. And as a patchwork group, it hasn’t looked great. I will be honest with you, I thought South Florida did a lot of different and chaotic stuff as far as their front seven. They do a whole bunch of different things, stunting, blitzing, doing all kinds of things. But they also didn’t cover a lot of guys as well, and you’ve gotta find ways to hit these receivers. And I actually thought that Milroe’s been going through his reads correctly. He’s seeing it correctly, but he just hasn’t had a lot of time. Whenever they had a big play, you’d see a flag come out, which I’m not gonna sit up here and complain about flags, but there were a few questionable calls.”
It will be interesting to see how the Alabama football team as a whole responds after a tough win against USF.
