Kalen DeBoer feels it was a bit easier to call plays Saturday against Wisconsin with Alabama football’s offensive line putting together a solid performance.
The Crimson Tide’s offense put up 42 points against the Badgers. Jalen Milroe came up with 35 of those points operating behind Alabama’s offensive line. Jam Miller also ripped off an explosive run through a big hole.
DeBoer feels the play of his offensive line Saturday had a domino effect on play calling.
“Just did a consistent job of making sure Jalen could stay upright, wasn’t rushed, hurried,” DeBoer said when discussing Alabama’s offensive line after the game. “It’s amazing how your play calls can just be so much easier when you’re in down and distances that are a bit more favorable. When you can protect your quarterback and make every throw count, where there’s not throwaways where you’re getting hit. I thought there was just good jelling, considering it’s really their first game action altogether…I felt like they were in sync and giving us a chance…I liked the balance of what we’re able to do both running, pass and that starts up front.”
There will be more time for Alabama’s offensive line to rest over the next two weeks before they play a tough and talented defensive front when they play host to Georgia.
