Alabama freshman DB Red Morgan tells why he did not transfer after Nick Saban retired

Red Morgan and several of the Crimson Tide’s freshmen early enrollees had quite the introduction to Alabama when Nick Saban retired during their first team meeting after a loss to Michigan.

Morgan, who is a former four-star recruit, is a product of the state of Alabama with him graduating from Central Phenix City High School.

The freshman was faced with an early career decision when Saban broke the news to the Alabama football team. Morgan revealed he thought about moving on from the Tide before playing in an actual game during an interview on the New Wave Podcast with Jaylen Mbakwe and Ryan Williams.

“I was thinking about leaving,” Morgan said. “But I talked to my mom and them, and they were like give it a shot, you don’t know what the other coaches got in store for you. So, I just sat down, thought about it and said I am staying. I was looking up coach DeBoer. I was just trying to see. He the real deal. I was like yeah, I am staying.”

Morgan has seen substantial playing time in the Tide’s first three games of the season. He has recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup as his decision to sympathize at Alabama continues to look like a good one.
