He learned under Nick Saban for nine years about how to be prepared for any and everything, but was Kirby Smart not prepared for Kalen DeBoer and Alabama last week?
Smart and the Bulldogs suffered a 34-41 loss on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium in an epic showdown.

Georgia made the game interesting in the second half, but it fell short. Alabama jumped all over Georgia in the first quarter, striking to a 28-0 lead. The Crimson Tide lead 30-7 at halftime, taking the ‘Dawgs out of the rhythm it wanted. Nick Sheridan, Alabama’s offensive coordinator, got every matchup he scripted in the first quarter as Coach Smart looked confused.
Mike Griffith, a Georgia beat reporter for DawgNation of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, told ESPN’s Paul Finebaum on Thursday that the Bulldogs ‘were unprepared’ for DeBoer and his brand new staff.

No one is use to hearing this from Smart.
The excitement and energy leading up to this game was on another level, and it did not disappoint as the Tide had a sellout crowd of 100,077. Smart is usually prepared for whatever happens and his team of Glenn Schumann, Travaris Robinson, and Will Muschamp make up the best defensive coaches in the nation. Smart saying Georgia was not prepared is very eye opening.
Alabama now has its attention for Saturday against Vanderbilt.
