Former Alabama players take shots at Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 defense

Alabama defensive coordinator Kane Wommack signals to the defense at practice

Former Alabama players are starting to voice their disapproval towards this year’s defensive scheme.

Former Tide wide receiver, Marquis Maze expressed his disappointment via X.

“4-2-5. what a joke.” Maze posted to X with laughing emojis.

2015 SEC defensive player of the year, Linebacker Reggie Ragland took to X to respond to Maze’s criticism when he was asked by Maze if he would like if offensive lineman could block him.

“I wouldn’t like it at all,” Ragland answered.

This comes after the Alabama defense allowed an alarming 12 of 18 3rd-down conversion in their loss to Vanderbilt last week. The Crimson Tide struggles on defense continued this week in their matchup against South Carolina.
