South Carolina executed the same plays as Vanderbilt did last week against Alabama at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The Gamecock ran the football effectively with Raheim Sanders and LaNorris Sellers had 238 passing yards with two touchdowns. South Carolina converted seven of 15 third down opportunities and wide receivers for the Gamecocks made plays. Shane Beamer nearly pulled out an upset victory over Kalen DeBoer. He had so much confidence in South Carolina’s offense that Beamer took a shot at Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 defense in his post game presser. Beamer said he knew the Gamecocks would be able to have success.

“I told them in the hotel last night before our team meeting before we went to bed that the way Alabama plays defense, our receivers were going to have some opportunities,” Beamer said.
Beamer was right as Sellers found 10 different receiving options against the Tide’s defense.
Mazeo Bennett and Nyck Harbor caught touchdown passes. Harbor’s score in the fourth quarter cut Alabama’s lead to 27-25.
Wommack’s vision coverage has not been consistent and opponents have attacked it well.
