Alabama OLB coach highlights biggest reason behind Que Robinson’s success heading into Tennessee game

Steve Roberts - USA Today Sports

She is a tough teacher, but patience is also a great rewarder.

No one for Alabama football understands this more than Que Robinson. The Birmingham (Ala.) product waited behind Will Anderson Jr., Dallas Turner, and Chris Braswell for his moment to be a leader at outside linebacker. He arrived as a five-star in the Crimson Tide’s 2020 recruiting class, but now Robinson is a grown man. The 6-foot-5, 241-pounder has been the most consistent playmaker up front through six games.

He has 19 total tackles, including seven for loss (team-high) and four sacks (team-high). Robinson also has two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.

He is reaping the benefits of his hard work, but outside linebackers’ coach Christian Robinson highlighted the biggest reason behind Robinson’s success in Wednesday’s media availability for assistant coaches. Robinson is in a position to have a monster game on Saturday versus Tennessee on the road.

“I think he is using his tools,” Robinson said. “The greatest thing as a player is to know who you are. LT Overton is one guy, but he is a different build, a different skill set. Que has extremely long arms and he has done a really good job of using what he’s been blessed with to go out there and execute. He also trusts that when he gets into a situation, he uses what he’s blessed with.”

Robinson said his super senior at linebacker is playing with a lot more confidence.

“He knows he can do this,” Robinson said. “He has mastered what he needs to do. He is a long guy, tall guy, which means you have to bend more than other guys because you are on a level playing field. I think Que knows himself, knows what he has to do in those moments, and trusts himself to go as hard as he can.”

Robinson is 3-1 all-time versus Tennessee.

His lone defeat came in 2022 at Neyland Stadium, but he is ready to help Alabama avenge that defeat this weekend.
