A journey to prove it belongs in the first 12-team College Football Playoff is what Alabama football is on.
After being inconsistent in games, except for Wisconsin and Georgia, the Crimson Tide put together a performance versus Missouri on Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium that was quality. Alabama earned its first shutout (34-0) win over a Southeastern Conference opponent since 2020 against Mississippi State. The Tide showed it still can dominate teams with consistent execution, but that has to continue. Alabama is off this week, but the team travels to Tiger Stadium to face LSU next week in Baton Rouge, La. Danny Kanell, a college football analyst for CBS Sports HQ, has not been impressed by Alabama.
Kickoff time revealed for Alabama’s marquee showdown versus LSU
He said the Tide’s resume does not stack up to other contenders for the playoff.
“I don’t think Bama has looked like a playoff team, I don’t think their resume is deserving of a playoff spot.”

“I don’t think they are a playoff team,” Kanell said about Alabama.
“I don’t think Bama has looked like a playoff team, I don’t think their resume is deserving of a playoff spot.”
Kanell details how a win over LSU would go a long way for Alabama, but he feels the Tide must win-out with style.
“It needs a big win over LSU where it looks impressive,” he said. “I get that they got things back on track versus Missouri, but that is a Missouri team that was one of the most overrated at the beginning of the season. Missouri got absolutely boat raced against Texas A&M earlier in the season. For me, it is about getting Jalen Milroe back in the comfort of this offense, being able to get the running game going, all things they did against Missouri. All things they did against a weaker opponent, but now they have to do it against LSU. If they do that, I will give them a sliver of a chance. I don’t think their resume stacks up as good as anyone thinks.”

Kanell feels Alabama needs more dominant showings to prove to the CFP Committee it belongs.
The Tide can take the heart out of LSU fans next week with a marquee showing. It has to come out dominating the game.
