Alabama’s offensive line will be put to the test this weekend in multiple ways against LSU’s defensive line.
The Tigers have one of the more well-rounded defensive line units in the SEC. The group is headlined by defensive end Bradyn Swinson. The Georgia native leads the Tigers with eight sacks. Everything up front starts with Swinson’s play.
He is joined by fellow defensive end Sai’vion Jones. The Louisiana native is second on the team with 4.5 sacks. Swinson and Jones are both effective pass rushers. Players like Gio Paez, Paris Shand, Ahmad Breaux, and Jay’viar Suggs hold things down along the interior. Overall, LSU might have the best defensive front that Alabama is going to see this season.
Not to mention, the Tigers leading tackler — Whit Weeks will come off the edge from time to time. He has 2.5 sacks on the season.
LSU defensive coordinator Blake Baker does an excellent job of disguising stuff and putting the defensive line in the best position to apply pressure. In addition, opponents average just 127.7 rushing yards per game. Regardless of how you look at it, LSU’s defensive line is solid. With Alabama’s offensive line struggling at times, it will be important for them to stay together and perform well against LSU’s defensive line in a hostile atmosphere like Death Valley.
