Alabama quarterback, Jalen Milroe and the Alabama offense have had an opportunity to watch Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed and the Aggies’ offense have success against the LSU Tigers.
Reed had an impressive showing against the Tigers in their matchup, rushing for three touchdowns on nine carries for 62 yards in the Aggies’ 38-23 victory after replacing injured starter Conner Weigman. Milroe was asked about Reed’s performance and what he could possibly take from it as Alabama prepares to face the same LSU defense this weekend.
Milroe answered the questions by referring to the strengths of a dual-threat quarterback like himself.
“It’s just so much a defense has to look at when it comes to stopping a quarterback who can run and pass the football, and that’s just hard for any defense to go up against,” Milroe said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s LSU’s, no matter whose defense it is, it’s just hard for any defense to stop the element of both pass and run.”
The Alabama quarterback also gave props to Reed.
“No. 1, I’m proud of him,” Milroe said. “That’s definitely a great performance on his end, being prepared to go in and play. He did a really good job of running the football in the game. He was effective against their defense. And I’m proud of his performance, with how he played, just his grit and determination, and just leading the guys for a win.”
It is important to note that Milroe himself has already had success against LSU’s defense, rushing for 155 yards, four touchdowns and throwing a passing touchdown to go along with 219 passing yards in their meeting last season.
The Alabama offense now hopes to replicate and or have similar success via Milroe’s dual threat ability when the Tide lineup across from LSU’s defense in Tigers stadium on Saturday.
