Alabama backup QB emulating LSU QB at practice

Alabama football is preparing to face one of the SEC’s most skilled quarterbacks this weekend at LSU in Garrett Nussmieier.

The Crimson Tide are preprting for the LSU quarterback by having Austin Mack emulate him at practice. Mack is much taller than Nussmeier at 6-foot-6, but Kalen DeBoer feels the Washington transfer is giving the Tide a good look.

“Austin Mack has done a great job,” DeBoer said. “I mean, just in general, given a lot of different looks. He is tall and you’re not going to block your defensive line as well with your guys given a look. And so for him to be able to see and make those throws, and he doesn’t maybe have the stature or the same stature I think that Nussmeier with his mobility and things like that. But just being able to deliver those throws, Austin’s done a great job.

Nussmeier has thrown for 2,627 yards and 20 touchdowns while throwing nine interceptions this season.

Former Alabama quarterback, AJ McCarron feels Nussmeier is the best throwing quarterback in the SEC.

Limiting the LSU QB could b crucial for the Tide this weekend.
