Key defensive player out for rest of season with injury

Alabama’s defense will be down a starter for the rest of the season.

Safety Keon Sabb will miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken foot against Tennessee. The redshirt sophomore started in each of the first seven games for the Crimson Tide. During that time, he recorded 39 total tackles, four pass deflections, and two interceptions.

The expectation is that Sabb will return to Alabama next season. If that happens, he will likely man one of the safety spots alongside sophomore Bray Hubbard. In Sabb’s absence, Hubbard has stepped up in a big way. In three starts, Hubbard has recorded 13 tackles, two interceptions, and two pass deflections.

Overall, the future of the safety room looks bright as things stand. Sabb will continue to rehab and get back to full speed. His leadership and presence in the secondary will be missed, but Hubbard will do his best to fill the void in the meantime.
