This year’s Iron Bowl will take place inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. On Monday, the kickoff time and TV channel were revealed for the rivalry.
Alabama and Auburn will play at 3:30 EST / 2:30 CST and be nationally televised on ABC. This will be Kalen DeBoer’s coaching debut in the Iron Bowl. It will also be the first time that Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has coached in the Iron Bowl inside Bryant-Denny Stadium. Freeze lost his coaching debut in the Iron Bowl last season by a final score of 27-24.
Historically, Alabama leads the series 50-37-1. The Crimson Tide are looking to win five straight games in the Iron Bowl for the first time since 1981. Alabama won nine straight Iron Bowls from 1973-1981.
It will be interesting to see how the debut of DeBoer-Freeze in the Iron Bowl goes this season. There is a strong chance that Alabama’s College Football Playoff hopes will still be alive. There is also the possibility that Auburn will need a win to become bowl eligible. Both could be storylines heading into one of the biggest rivalries in college football. Nevertheless, it has always been a good game. It will be interesting to see how things play out this year.
