ESPN gives Alabama best percentage to win SEC Championship

Steve Roberts - USA Today Sports

Alabama football has business to handle with Oklahoma, but its picture of a Southeastern Conference Championship opportunity is becoming clear with each week.

Kalen DeBoer has two losses on his resume, but he also has the Crimson Tide in a position to play for a conference title in his first-year as its head coach. Alabama needs Texas to lose next week to Texas A&M for a better chance, but it would also be interesting if the Longhorns fall to Kentucky on Saturday. ESPN’s Football Power Index or FPI has the Tide with the best percentage to win an SEC Championship at 39.5, regardless of it losing to Vanderbilt and Tennessee earlier in the season.

DeBoer has Alabama playing its best football at the right time, especially on defense.

We will see how locked in the Tide looks versus the Sooners, but Alabama has a path to the SEC title game.
