Kalen DeBoer gives thoughts on Jalen Milroe’s multiple interceptions

Alabama quarterback, Jalen Milroe had his worst statistical performance of the season, throwing three interceptions in Saturday night’s 24-3 road loss to Oklahoma.

Milroe was an underwhelming 11 of 26 passing for 164 yards and only managed to muster seven total yards on 15 rushing attempts. The redshirt junior also was responsible for throwing three interceptions, including a 49-yard pick six as Alabama scored a season-low three points on offense versus the Sooners defense. After the game, Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer met with media and commented on his redshirt junior quarterback’s multiple turnover performance.

“Early in the game, there’s different things,” DeBoer said. “I mean, drops, just flat-out drops, balls we lost in the lights, just different, uncharacteristic things, weird things that happened. And I thought he was actually putting the ball where he needed to. We just needed to help him out a bit. The screen pass, they jump it. You have to assume that those blocks are going to happen and you’re reading a different defender. And then there’s the pick-six that goes the other way. I don’t know if he just didn’t see him or predetermined things, but there’s still a lot of game left. And I felt like a lot of things he was doing, he was fighting and battling and doing a lot of things well for our football team. We just all needed to be a little better.”

Milroe and Alabama now must flush this performance as they travel back home to face Auburn in the Iron Bowl.
