Auburn University had two defensive players take shots at Alabama football ahead of the Iron Bowl.
Auburn freshman LB says Ryan Williams is not a ‘big-time’ player
DeMarcus Riddick, a freshman linebacker, was one of the athletes for the Tigers doing some chatter. He made bold statements about Jalen Milroe and Ryan Williams, but a veteran defensive lineman for the Crimson Tide came to Williams’ defense in Tuesday’s media availability for Tide players. Tim Keenan III, a junior, sees Williams as nothing less than a big time player.
“I think that is the best 17-year-old I have ever seen. … Ryan Williams,” Keenan said. “I am a big fan of Ryan Williams. The plays he has made, his impact, his influence. … Ryan Williams is probably the biggest star to me ever.”
Keenan responds to Riddick’s comment of Williams ‘not being a big time player.’
Williams, a Mobile (Ala.) native, has a chance to show he was the best wide receiver in the state. He battles Cam Coleman of Auburn in this rivalry game. Williams, a former five-star, has 42 catches for 804 yards receiving and 10 total touchdowns.
The 6-foot, 175-pounder has had explosive moment this season, but he looks to capitalize on more this weekend.
