Soon after Alabama was left out of the College Football Playoff in favor of SMU, Crimson Tide defensive back Malachi Moore provided his reaction on X.
His initial reaction was likely warranted. It just seems like the College Football Playoff committee valued an appearance in a conference championship over a stronger strength of schedule. Nonetheless, Moore and several of his teammates will finish out their college careers in a regular bowl game and not in a setting like the College Football Playoff.
Moore was a key player for the Crimson Tide this season. He will go down as a cornerstone piece of helping Alabama transition from the Nick Saban era to the Kalen DeBoer era. As a graduate senior, Moore recorded 70 tackles, eight pass deflections, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery.
Unfortunately for Moore, he will not have an opportunity to win a second national title during his time at Alabama. However, he leaves behind a good career in Tuscaloosa and will likely be a very valuable player for an organization at the next level.
