College Football Playoff considering further expansion

The College Football Playoff committee is already considering further expansion after the release of the inaugural 12-team format on Sunday.

This possible development comes on Tuesday after 48 hours of nonstop discussions and on-going debate on if the 13-chair selection committee got the first bracket correct.

College Football Playoff  executive director Rich Clark said an expansion will be considered in a couple of years, per Brett McMurphy.

“The commissioners will look at is 14 a better number (starting in 2026) after they see results of this playoff,” Clark said. “How can we make it better? 14 (teams) is one of the options, staying at 12 is one of the options.”

College football continues to evolve with another possible change coming to the playoff.
