Alabama QB Jalen Milroe wins prestigious award

Will McLelland - USA Today Sports

He did not make an All-SEC Team, but he did win a prestigious award to end the 2024 college football regular season.

Jalen Milroe, a redshirt junior quarterback for the University of Alabama, won the William V. Campbell Trophy on Tuesday at the National Football Foundation (NFF) event. The honor goes to college football’s top scholar-athlete and is nicknamed the “Academic Heisman Trophy.”

The William V. Campbell Trophy is awarded to the college football player that has the best combination of academics, community service, and on-field performance.

Milroe, a native Texan, has been great for the Tuscaloosa (Ala.) community and surrounding areas.

He spends time with youth at Children’s Hospital and finds ways to put smiles on everyone’s face he encounters. Milroe is an outstanding student, seeing how he already has his bachelor’s degree.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder totaled 35 touchdowns to 10 interceptions this season.

He had 2,652 passing yards and guided Alabama to victories over Georgia, South Carolina, and Missouri as top 25 schools. Milroe joins former Alabama standout, Barrett Jones (2012) as the second player in school history to win the William V. Campbell honor.
