Alabama’s coaching staff is actively looking to add talent to its roster through the transfer portal. On Sunday, Washington transfer offensive lineman Kahlee Tafai announced on Instagram that he had received an offer from the Crimson Tide.
Tafai was recruited by Kalen DeBoer when he was at Washington. Coming out of high school, Tafai chose the Huskies over Oregon State and BYU. He was a part of the 2023 recruiting class.
In two seasons, Tafai played in eight games. All of which came during the 2024 season. He made four starts at left tackle against Penn State, Oregon, Indiana, and UCLA.
He is listed at 6-foot-5 and 327 pounds. It is unclear if Tafai will visit Alabama or not. He held previous relationships with several members of the Alabama coaching staff. That could go a long way in Alabama’s efforts of getting Tafai on campus for an official visit. The familiarity and trust level is something that should increase Alabama’s chances of landing his commitment if they decide to go all-in.
Alabama lost offensive tackle Miles McVay to the transfer portal. Redshirt freshman Naquil Betrand also entered the transfer portal. If nothing else, Alabama could decide to bring in Tafai for depth with hopes of developing him and having him start in the future.
