Former Alabama head coach Mike Shula has been hired as South Carolina’s next offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. His new contract with the Gamecocks is for three years and worth $1.1-million dollars.
Shula was the head coach at Alabama from 2003-2006. He held a 26-23 coaching record during his tenure with the Tide. In November of 2006, Shula was fired by former Alabama athletic director Mal Moore.
Following his time at Alabama, Shula was a member of several NFL coaching staffs. In 2024, he joined South Carolina’s coaching staff as an offensive assistant. His new role is certainly one to keep a close eye on as Alabama will travel to Columbia to take on the Gamecocks during the 2025 season. In 2024, Alabama defeated South Carolina 27-25. It will be interesting to see what Shula draws up against the Crimson Tide next season. That is for sure.
