BREAKING: Utah transfer DB commits to Alabama

Former Utah cornerback Cameron Calhoun is transferring to Alabama. On3’s Hayes Fawcett was first to report the news of Calhoun coming to Alabama.

Calhoun was a four-star prospect coming out of high school. He was listed as being 6-feet tall and 170 pounds. He signed with the Michigan Wolverines. He played in two games with the Wolverines and did not record any stats. Following his freshman season in Ann Arbor, Calhoun chose to transfer to Utah. In one season with the Utes, Calhoun registered 21 tackles, nine pass deflections, and one interception.

With Alabama potentially losing starting cornerback Domani Jackson to the NFL Draft, Calhoun’s arrival becomes increasingly more important for the Crimson Tide. He has starting experience and will be a welcoming presence on the back end of Alabama’s defense next season.

Calhoun has three years of eligibility remaining. An interesting thing to note about Calhoun is the fact that he is a former high school teammate of incoming Alabama freshman Justin Hill. The two played together at Winton Woods High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Calhoun will provide valuable depth and experience to Alabama’s secondary next season. He is the second transfer that Alabama has landed in as many days. The first being Florida transfer defensive lineman Kelby Collins.
