Alabama football’s true freshman defensive back, Jaylen Mbakwe created quite the stir around college football earlier this week when he announced plans to enter transfer portal and backed off those plans.
These chain of events have since lead to many of the Crimson Tide faithful and college football watchers around the country left questioning what were the specifics of the conversation between Mbakwe and first year Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer during this time.
DeBoer met with media after practice on Wednesday and shedded light on the pair’s brief discussion.
“His conversation with me was that he wanted to come back,” DeBoer said. “That’s not that complicated. First of all, the kid loves this place, and he’s a great teammates, works extremely hard. Obviously, we see what he is on the field. He’s extremely versatile. We see him play defense. We see him do the things with the ball in his hands in a punt returner situation.”
Now that MBakwe has officially returned to Alabama football it will be interesting to see how Kalen DeBoer and staff find ways to ingratiate the former Pinson, Alabama five-start product on defense, special teams and other possible areas as they prepare for their matchup against Michigan in the ReliaQuesr Bowl on Dec.31 and in the upcoming future.
