Kalen DeBoer is ready to use Richard Young more in Alabama football’s offense in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
Young is a former four-star running back out of Lehigh Senior High School in Florida. He is expected to get more snaps in the bowl game with Justice Haynes in the transfer portal.
The Florida product has managed to take advantage of limited snaps as a redshirt freshman. He has carried the ball 25 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns in six games of action.
DeBoer shared his excitement to see Young more earlier this week.
“A strong running back, does a lot of things,” DeBoer said while discussing Young. “Certainly excited to have Richard highlighted more with more opportunities in practice and game to show everyone what he can do.”
Jam Miller is expected to continue to be Alabama’s No. 1 option out of the backfield, but he is ready to share the backfield with Young on a more consistent basis.
“He been getting more reps,” Miller said. “He been getting more confidence in his game.”
Alabama and Michigan will square off in the ReliaQuest Bowl on New Years Eve, and Young is expected to be very involved in this one.
