Kirk Herbstreit has continued to express his thoughts this week about how the College Football Playoff committee should select the field in the future.
Herbstreit was a guest on the Pat McAfee show on Monday, and he discussed the question he tends to ask before every football season to get clarity about what the committee is looking for when deciding who gets into the playoff.
“Are we trying to figure out who the better teams are or the teams that have kind of earned their way and they deserve to be there? Because sometimes we get to near the end and you hear a lot of, well, they deserve to be in. And I’ve always asked them that every August before we get started, is it you trying to find the best 12 or the most deserving 12? And every year they’ve said, ‘no, no, no, no, we want the best 12.’”
The playoff committee has been at the center of many discussions after an underwhelming first round of the College Football Playoff.
