Former Alabama wide receiver, Marquis Maze feels his success in Tuscaloosa opened the door for other small wide receivers to shine under Nick Saban.
Maze played for the Crimson Tide from 2008 to 2011, helping Alabama win two National Championships. He finished his career with 1,844 receiving yards and eight touchdowns.
The Tarrant High School product shared his thoughts on him opening up a path for smaller wideouts on Thursday,
“I’m the reason Coach Saban recruited smaller receivers!! Because he was a big body receiver type guy I just wouldn’t be denied Roll Tide,” Maze posted.
Alabama had multiple shorter wideouts, who were productive under Nick Saban after Maze, including Jaylen Waddle and Slade Bolden.
