Terrence Cody announces first college coaching job

On Thursday afternoon, former Alabama defensive lineman Terrence Cody announced that he will be serving as the defensive line coach at Southwest Mississippi Community College.

Cody is most notably known for blocking a field goal attempt against Tennessee in 2009. Cody was a key piece of Alabama’s defense from 2008-2009. During his career at Alabama, Cody recorded 51 tackles and 10.5 tackles for loss.

Following his college career, he pursued an NFL career. He spent five seasons with the Ravens organization. The Florida native played in 57 games and recorded 87 tackles.

After the 2014 season, Cody was released by the Ravens and ultimately hung up the cleats. Since then, he has faced some legal troubles. However, this could be a step in the right direction for Cody. Interestingly enough, former Alabama defensive lineman Brandon Deadrick coaches in the same state at East Mississippi Community College.

It will be interesting to see how Cody fares as a coach. He began his college career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and will now begin his coaching career at the same level at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
