Former Alabama defensive lineman Khurtiss Perry announced that he was transferring to Jacksonville State on Thursday via his Instagram account. Perry will continue his college career in his home state and be able to play for a former Nick Saban assistant — Jacksonville State head coach Charles Kelly.
Perry began his college career in Tuscaloosa. The native of Montgomery, Alabama spent two seasons with the Crimson Tide. He played in one game and did not record any stats. Following the conclusion of the 2023 season, Perry elected to enter the transfer portal and transfer to Virginia Tech.
In his lone seasons with the Hokies, he played in two games. He did not record any stats in those games.
His decision to transfer to the Gamecocks does not come as too much of a surprise considering Kelly helped recruit Perry to Alabama. It seems like a good stop for the former four-star edge rusher as well. Jacksonville State is in a transition period from FCS to FBS. A player with FBS experience like Perry could help them a lot on the defensive side of the ball to make that transition a little easier. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Perry fares with the Gamecocks.
