Marshall Pritchett is excited about the opportunity to be a contributor for Alabama football on offense.
Pritchett is a former four-star tight end out of Georgia. He is an early enrollee with the Crimson Tide and is set to go through the Tide’s full off-season program.
The Georgia product is confident in DeBoer and the Tide’s offensive coordinator, Nick Sheridan’s, desire to use the tight end position in the future.
“Going back to Kalen DeBoer and his previous stops, he has always had a tight end, who made a big impact,” Pritchett said. “At Washington, the year they made it to the semifinals, he had Delvin Culp, Jack Westover, they caught a good amount of passes. He starting to incorporate them more into his offense now that he has his guys. The opportunity presented to me to get fed and play in an offense where a lot of good guys are around me to open me up was definitely a factor in me choosing them.”
Pritchett’s future quarterback, Keelon Russell aided in his decision to flip his commitment from North Carolina.
“He is an incredible football player,” said Pritchett. “He is the leader of our class. He shot me a text and some of the other guys contacted me. That was definitely something that matter, knowing they wanted me to jump ship and join Alabama. Having a guy like that leading our class shows the trajectory of our program.”
The 6-foot-5, 200-pounder is a big target, who is comfortable lining up flexed out wide and attached to the line of scrimmage. He is a good route runner, who effectively executes the route tree, and he is a willing blocker no matter where he lines up.
“The expanded route tree is something I prided myself on, just being able to run any routes, so they don’t have to sub a wide receiver in,” Pritchett told Touchdown Alabama. “Just learning how block is another thing I got good at, but got a long way to go.”
