Coaches at the American Football Coaches Association Convention are discussing a harsher punishment for players faking injuries.
College football has seen in uptick in players faking an injury to slow the game down or get a timeout in recent seasons. This has prompted coaches to consider making a push for players to have to sit out an entire drive when they go out for an injury, per Yahoo Sports Ross Dellenger.
“Any injured player would be sidelined the rest of the drive. Coaches could use a timeout to reinstate player. It’s expected to be on the agenda at head coaches’ meetings today,” Dellenger posted to X regarding the discussion.
It will be interesting to see if this is a rule college football will incorporate in the future.
