Alabama assistant cornerbacks coach Kobie Jones is departing the program to be Georgia Tech’s new cornerbacks coach. FootballScoop was the first to report the news via X. ESPN insider Pete Thamel later confirmed the news.
FootballScoop had the following to say about the Yellow Jackets hiring away Jones:
“Coach Brent Key is working to finalize a deal to hire Kobie Jones away from Alabama to coach the cornerbacks for his Georgia Tech program. A Florida native who played collegiately at Alabama A&M, where he switched from quarterback to defensive back, Jones worked at prestigious IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, following his playing career.
From there, he accepted a graduate assistant role inside the Crimson Tide program and eventually was named the assistant cornerbacks coach.”
Jones assisted Alabama cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist during the 2024 season. He will take his valuable time from Tuscaloosa to Atlanta with hopes of helping former Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key build something special at Georgia Tech.
