Alabama football had to compete against some of the best players college football had to offer during the Nick Saban era.
Joe Borrow, Cam Newton, Time Tebow and Johnny Manziel headline the list of top quarterbacks, who beat Alabama under Saban.
However, one quarterback, who beat Saban and does not get talked about as much as those players previously mentioned is Heisman-Trophy winner, Jayden Daniels.
Saban gave the former LSU quarterback high praise on the “Pat McAfee Show” on Monday.
“Since Joe Burrow, which whatever the year that was when they beat us, this was the most dominating player that we played against at Alabama for four or five years,” Saban said while discussing Daniels. “I said it last year in the draft. You know, all these pro people call and ask your opinion on people you played against. I said this guy’s the best player we played against for five years. And no disrespect to anybody else…I think this guy is a great passer. He’s fast as hell and he can scramble and run and make plays. He’s smart. He makes good decisions.”
Daniels played against Alabama twice as LSU’s starting quarterback. He led the Tigers to a win over in Alabama in 2022 with a three-touchdown performance in an overtime win.
