Alabama LB Deontae Lawson reveals how practice habits led to Vanderbilt loss

Alabama inside linebacker Deontae Lawson (No. 0) on the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium for 2024 A-Day Game.

Deontae Lawson did an interview with Roger Hoover on the Crimson Tide Sports Network, and he revisited the Crimson Tide’s loss to Vanderbilt.

The Commodores defeated Alabama 40-35 in one of the biggest upsets of the 2024 season.

The loss came a week after the Crimson secured what would become their best win of the season against Georgia. Lawson felt a lack of intensity from Alabama’s players during the week opened the door for a Vanderbilt upset.

“I don’t feel like we had the same intensity as we did against Georgia,” Lawson said. “That week, that preparation. That’s what we need to love. It’s not Saturday. It’s the preparation leading up to Saturday. If you attack that hard, the game is just gonna flow right to you. When everyone gets that mindset, and we will, we’ll be alright.”

Alabama will look to have more and consistent intensity in year two under Kalen DeBoer.
