Former Carolina Panthers and NFL MVP quarterback, Cam Newton believes the Dallas Cowboys have a long-term plan to hire college football hall of fame head coach, Nick Saban in efforts to pair him with Texas Longhorns quarterback, Arch Manning.
Newton dropped this bombshell theory on ESPN’s FirstTake show on Thursday morning when discussing the Cowboys latest head coach hire in Brian Schottenheimer while suggesting what direction the franchise should go in future seasons. Newton didn’t hold back on his thoughts when explaining why Jerry Jones and the Cowboys should tank their 2025 season in order to successfully pair the longtime college football legend in Saban with the prized Texas signal caller in Manning.
“Hear me out, I think they’re tanking for Arch (Manning),” Newton said. “Make it make sense. Coach Schottenheimer has one-and-done written all over him. He got one-and-done written all over him. Ok, why do you one-and-done? Because, you get the first pick in the draft. Ok, not only that, I’m going to go back into my Godfather bag and say, okay, Jerry Jones is a businessman, and he’s going to get into his Don Corleone mentality and he’s going to give him a deal he can’t refuse. Who? Nick Saban. Go get Nick Saban as your head coach and Arch Manning as your No. 1 pick.”
This scenario of events castrated by Newton would be absolutely rambunctious for all parties involved to say the very least.
