As we have seen in the past, opposing players will make targeted comments toward Alabama. On Tuesday, Florida State defensive end James Williams made an interesting comment in regard to the Crimson Tide.
“I’m here to dominate against Alabama,” Williams said.
That is quite the bold statement for a player that is a part of a Florida State team that had its worst season in 50 years. The Seminoles finished the 2024 season with a 2-10 record. Granted, Williams was a part of Nebraska’s roster and transferred to Florida State during the offseason. He recorded 18 tackles and seven sacks in two seasons with the Cornhuskers.
Despite the fact that he was at Nebraska last season, it will not change the fact that Williams placed a huge target on Florida State’s back.
In the past, Alabama has used outside noise to fuel them as they prepare for their weekly opponent. This time around Alabama will have almost seven months to use it as motivation.
Alabama will open up the 2025 season against Florida State in Tallahassee. It should be a good test for both teams early on in the season.
Williams might have provided fuel to the fire for an Alabama team that will be eager to make a statement in Week 1. It will be interesting to see if any additional players or coaches comment on the game in the coming weeks and months.
